China is such a massive country, both geographically and in terms of population density. Let’s just say driving through China isn’t like going to Kansas. It’s hard to understand what I mean by dense until you actually see it for yourself. There are few stretches of land in China that aren’t heavily populated. Almost all the available land is cultivated or utilized.
Traveling China is like trying to cross a land the size of the US but with 3 times the population of Europe densely packed inside. It’s wild to see first hand.
I’ve traveled China extensively over 1 year, something few westerners have the chance to do at such a young age. It’s a country that requires 3 months of non-stop travel to really explore the surface, years to become familiar. I visited 8 cities in 30 days of just backpacking and have been living in Southern China for many more months for work taking weekend trips using the network of ultra-fast express trains. Here is my collection of articles to date with more coming soon for Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Shanghai.
